Price of a heat pump with installation in 2026
The total price of the heat pump includes the unit (outdoor and indoor parts, and possibly a hot water tank) and installation, connection, system evacuation, refrigerant charging and commissioning. Beyond this base price, electrical modifications, structural adaptations for the outdoor unit, possible conversion of the heating system to low-temperature operation and inspection are usually charged separately. The exact scope of what is included and what is not varies from offer to offer: the table below always states what each company declares itself.

What drives prices up and what brings them down
- Heat pump type. Air-to-air (essentially air conditioning with heating function) is the cheapest, air-to-water more expensive, and ground-to-water and water-to-water the most expensive due to the borehole or ground collector.
- Capacity and number of zones. Higher output and more heating circuits (multiple floors, combination of radiators and underfloor heating) increase the cost of both the unit and the labour.
- State of the heating system. An old building with high-temperature radiators often requires their replacement or a bivalent source, which significantly increases the implementation cost compared to a new build with underfloor heating.
- Electrical connection. If the building lacks sufficient capacity or a three-phase supply, an additional charge applies for modifying the electrical installation.
- Sazba DPH. A reduced rate of 12% for permanent residential accommodation versus 21% elsewhere, in offers quoted in thousands of Kč, this makes a noticeable difference.
- Special offers. Time-limited discounts on specific models (see table above) can reduce the unit price by tens of thousands of Kč, but once the promotion ends, prices return to their original level.
Subsidies
Nová zelená úsporám covers up to 50% of eligible costs for replacing the heat source; the specific maximum amount varies depending on the type of heat pump and household category, detailed conditions and current amounts are available on the official website. novazelenausporam.czAs a guide, 81klima.cz calculates in its example with a grant of up to 100 000 Kč for an air-to-water heat pump in a detached house (zdroj, verified on 28. 8. 2026).
Praha From 1 July 2026, applications will be accepted for the Čistá energie Prague 2026-2027 programme: grants of up to 60,000 Kč for air-to-air heat pumps, up to 100,000 Kč for air-to-water and up to 150,000 Kč for ground-to-water/water-to-water systems in detached houses and flats (up to 400,000 Kč for apartment blocks), always a maximum of 50% of eligible costs. Applications can also be submitted retrospectively for installations from 1 August 2025; the application period runs until 31 August 2027.praha.eu/web/portalzp/w/program-cista-energie-praha-2026-2027, verified on 28. 8. 2026).
How to read a quotation
Before comparing this quote with others, verify these points:
- Is the price inclusive or exclusive of VAT? And which rate (12% or 21%), for offers calculated in tens of thousands of Kč, this is not a cosmetic difference.
- Is the electrical connection included in the price? If not, how much does it cost separately and is it actually needed?
- Who supplies and sets up the control system? It is included in the price or handled separately.
- What is the warranty per unit and separately for the installation work carried out.
- Who carries out servicing after installation and how quickly they arrive in case of a breakdown.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the price of an air-to-air heat pump with installation, and what is usually not?
The price usually includes the unit itself, basic installation (connecting the outdoor and indoor units, vacuuming, commissioning) and operator training. In addition to the base price, companies typically charge for electrical modifications (new circuit breaker, or connection to 3-phase power), construction work (wall penetrations, foundation for the outdoor unit), heating system adjustments (replacing radiators with low-temperature ones, underfloor heating) and inspection. What is and is not included in the price varies between individual offers, always verify this in the specific quotation.
Why is an air-to-water heat pump so cheap in some places and so expensive in others?
According to the public price lists in the table above, the air-to-water unit itself ranges from 100 000 to 250 000 Kč, while complete implementation including installation starts at approximately 200 000 Kč. The difference depends on capacity, brand, whether a hot water tank is included in the price, and the complexity of the installation (length of piping, modification of the heating system). Promotional offers with significant discounts are also usually time-limited and tied to specific models.
How much will I actually save thanks to the grant?
The New Green Savings scheme covers up to 50% of eligible costs; the specific maximum amount depends on the type of heat pump and household. From July 2026, Prague will also offer its own Clean Energy Prague programme with a grant of up to 100 000 Kč for an air-to-water heat pump (details below). The exact grant amount for your home will be calculated only upon application: the figures here are indicative upper limits of the programmes, not a guarantee of a specific sum.
Is there a significant difference between the price excluding VAT and including VAT?
Yes, and it is worth asking about this straight away. For permanent residential properties meeting the conditions for social housing construction, a reduced rate of 12 % often applies; otherwise, it is 21 %. The table above shows how the price excluding VAT differs from the price „including VAT and installation" for the same unit: the difference also depends on whether the company calculates with 12 or 21 %.
Is it worth waiting for a special offer, or is it better to order immediately?
Promotional prices are usually tied to a specific model and limited stock or date, once the promotion ends, the price typically returns to its original level. If the promotional model suits your needs in terms of performance and type, and the company has an available installation slot, it may be worth not hesitating. If you are unsure about the correct performance for your home, it is better to have a survey carried out first, even if this means missing out on the discount.
Prices are public offers from the listed companies as of the verification date; we do not guarantee their current validity, and the specific price will be determined by a site survey.
